Gamma-ray Transients Monitor (GTM)
Introduction
Gamma-ray Transients Monitor (GTM) is the secondary science payload to fly on board Formosat-8B, scheduled to launch into a low-altitude earth orbit in 2025. The GTM collaboration includes teams led by Prof. Hsiang-Kuang Chang of Institute of Astronomy, NTHU, by Prof. Che-Chih Tsao of Department of Power Engineering, NTHU, and by Dr. Chih-Hsun Lin of Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica. The major science goal of GTM is to monitor Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs), mysterious gamma-rays coming from the deep universe. GTM will be the first space astronomical telescope of Taiwan.
